Recent Quick Movie reviews
Ok, I rarely, if ever do movie reviews, but here are some quick ones with my recommendation about what to do with the information!
Star Trek Into Darkness – beautiful and impressive. As an old fan of The Wrath of Khan (my favorite ST movie), I actually felt honored… I think this (and the one before it) were pure gold. Recommendation: go see it again, after watching the first one.
Man of Steel – not awful as an alien attacks movie. Pretty awful as a Superman movie. Recommendation: Watch the 1978 Superman movie… the father stuff is better; the storyline is better; the superman stuff is better (the symbol under the shirt, Clark Kent, sneaking past Lois, for example, and was that JENNY Olsen?).
After Earth – Not actually an awful movie overall… but not good when what keeps standing out in a movie is one missed opportunity after another. Could have been a great movie. Too bad. Recommendation: go see Star Trek in the theater again, then watch this one on Netflix or something someday.
The Lone Ranger – Capt. Jack Sparrow can play an Indian well… pretty Good fun. Weird, surreal, trippy, and bizarre. The little boy in me was only engaged with little boy Lone Ranger feelings at one part near the end, but it was fun when it did… but I would recommend going to see it if it sounds like something you would like.
World War Z – A pretty great Post-apocalyptic (a genre I really like for books and movies) movie for the first hour (epic, tragic, scary). An awful B Zombie movie for the last hour (3 people with an ax, crowbar and baseball bat creeping through an infested research lab with sketchy lighting – not kidding). Recommendation: read the book World War Z. It is a fantastically good book.
Honestly, I have been discouraged as one cool looking movie after another (except Star Trek) has fallen flat… we will see how the rest of the summer goes!
Thanks for the great reviews!! I really appreciate your opinion. I totally agree about World War Z. We thought it was lame at the end. Thanks again…see you in the fall.

I am telling you… READ THE BOOK… it is fantastic!
I was disappointed you didn’t have a review for Monsters University! 😉 (Half-kidding; River loves Monsters Inc. but I’ve heard MU is scary?).
Keep writing movie reviews- they are enjoyable to read!
haven’t seen it yet. Frat movies don’t do anything for me – so I cannot imagine watching animated monsters in a Frat movie. 😉 I am intrigued by Despicable Me II. I loved the first one!
